The dam reservoirs are used for water sports and boat cruises. The river Váh invites for downriver boat trips, with the most beautiful sections being in the Považie and Liptov regions. It is only navigable when its water level is high. When the water level is high, an experienced water sportsperson can manage its current already from under the bridge at Podbanské - 940 m, from where the distance to the point where it flows into the Váh river in Liptovský Hrádok - 628 m - is 21.9 km, with an altitude difference of 312m.
